Detoxification | Addicts Helpline

DETOXIFICATION

Detoxification is the process of ridding the body of toxic substances so that healing can begin. It is often the first step in any addiction recovery program. Addict’s Helpline provides referrals to qualified private detox centers. The process usually takes between 5-10 days, depending on the frequency of use, the duration of use, and the overall health profile of the client.

The following treatments are utilized during detox:

  • 24-hour medical supervision
  • Administration of medication for withdrawal symptoms (if necessary)
  • Individual and group therapy
  • Nutritional assessment and guidance
  • Holistic treatment options such as: yoga, meditation, etc.

Drug and Alcohol Detox Program Placement

There are several major benefits to detoxifying in a center rather than trying to do it by yourself. One, our staff strive to make the withdrawal process as comfortable and stress-free as possible. Two, there are safety precautions that need to be taken when withdrawing from certain substances. Staff can effectively monitor and maintain the health stability of the client. Three, detoxing in a center ensures that the client will not relapse during the process, thus avoiding removal of incentive to enter alcohol or drug rehabilitation.

After detox, a smooth transition to residential rehabilitation is facilitated. All clients will be discharged and approved for transfer. During this time, the staff utilizes effective communication between professionals, which is critical to a seamless and pleasant experience.
